2021 Spirit of 26
Sweet Adeline singers have a multitude of talents. Jude apprenticed as a graphic designer when her family was young. Today she shares her design expertise with Peace Arch Chorus. Jude joined the PAC in 2015 as a bass singer; a mover and shaker on the risers. In 2019, she joined a PAC quartet “Not a Trill” with her cousin and a mother/daughter duo.
While Jude held the Membership Coordinator role in the PAC, she resourced and wrote the PAC standing rules for Minor Singers. Currently she is part of the Region 26 Maple Leaf Express Team.
Jude continues to enthusiastically assist in whatever task PAC puts to her. In the Zoom world of weekly rehearsals, Jude introduced “Songbird” a getting to know you game of ten “interesting” questions. Each member sends answers privately to Jude. During a rehearsal, Jude reads out three or four answers for all members to guess the “songbird”. Jude is nearing an Associates degree in Creative Writing and was thrilled to learn that Music is considered a Math credit. She will complete her second term in Music Theory soon!
And the apple didn’t fall far from the tree. Jude’s Dad was a 40-year Barbershopper with the Thunderbirds Chorus in Vancouver, and her Mom was made an honorary member (baritone voice) for her help with their great show concert posters and logo.
Jude has three daughters and five grandchildren. Peace Arch Chorus is immensely pleased to have Jude represent us as our 2021 Carol Poole Spirit Honouree.
