The O Siem story
The story behind this video, from Director, Emma Honrud:
Very proud to present my last project with Peace Arch Chorus! When we were looking for a song that would add to the Canadian content of our repertoire, this one came up as a suggestion! It’s an amazing anthem written by Susan Aglukark and Chad Irschick who gave us special permission to have it arranged. We asked the wonderful Sam Dabrusin to work his magic and he did! Huge thanks to my husband Joshua Honrud for his mixing skills and to the lovely members of Peace Arch Chorus for their voices and enthusiasm.
O Siem means “a joyful greeting for family and loved ones” in the Inuktitut language. The song was written as a protest against racism and prejudice and I am honoured to share it with you.
