Sounds of Summer Concert Series
Langley City’s Sounds of Summer Concert Series, at McBurney Plaza, concludes with a grand finale!
Peace Arch Chorus filled the air with the sweet sounds of a cappella barbershop harmonies on Wednesday, August 24. They delighted the audience with a variety of Jazz to contemporary songs including an arrangement of Susan Aglukark’s O Siem. Audience favourites included songs by the Beatles, Bob Dylan, and Adele as well as all-time favourites Danny Boy and What a Wonderful World.
This event marked the first opportunity the Chorus has had to perform for a live audience, since Covid restrictions began. Chorus members were thrilled to see and hear a responsive audience again.
Peace Arch Chorus, members of Sweet Adelines International, are celebrating their 50th anniversary this year. Plans for a Celebration Concert on December 3rd are underway. They currently practice weekly in Surrey, at the Newton Cultural Center, under the direction of Director Elvera Collier and Assistant Director Bev Feick. Auditioned members are provided with excellent musical education and vocal coaching. The Chorus performs at many community activities and festivals in Langley and throughout the Lower Mainland. Their next performance will be at the Fraser Valley Heritage Railway Patio in Cloverdale on September 17, for 2 shows at 11:00 am and 1:00pm.
Peace Arch Chorus is always welcoming women to join them and will be hosting an Open House on September 28 @ 6:30 pm.
