2022 Spirit of 26

Peace Arch Chorus is pleased to recognize Ruth Chapieski as our ”Spirit of 26 “ recipient for 2022.  

Ruth has been a member of our chorus since 2005.  From her initial time in the chorus she was a willing and eager participant in the leadership functions of the chorus, attending Team meetings and helping out in any portfolio where needed.  Ruth is a retired Perioperative nurse, a mother of three and proud grandmother of six. 

She has a very musical family background as her parents had a band and her brother is a Pianist/Musician who has played professionally for more than 40 years. Ruth has been our Operations Coordinator for several terms, either in the portfolio or as the assistant in that position. She definitely demonstrated her excellent leadership skills over the past two years as we worked our way through the pandemic.  We initially had changed venue and before we had even had one rehearsal in that venue lock down happened. 

Ruth had worked tirelessly finding us that venue only to have the venue essentially double their price by the time we were able to return to in person rehearsals!  We ultimately decided to remain at our original venue and Ruth recognized that after a year and a half of restrictions, mandates and lock downs we were going to have to be very careful about returning and have some very strict guidelines for everyone’s comfort and safety. She diligently conducted the research, attended webinars and developed a plan that could meet all the chorus members needs.  We are all very grateful for her attention to the detail required to make us all feel safe.
